After airing only one episode of the series, HBO has decided they loved what they saw.

HBO has renewed Treme for a second season.

While the episode only got a 1.4 rating (and that’s all the airings combined), HBO loved the production quality so much, it didn’t really matter to them what the show got in terms of viewership.

“We would have picked up this show last week,” HBO president Michael Lombardo said. “We’ve seen the first nine episodes it’s as strong as any show we’ve seen. Much like ‘The Wire,’ the audience is so passionate and so invested. We’re about servicing our subscriber base and I believe that people will become addicted to this show. We have to be a place where this kind of excellence is giving space to continue.”

Treme, a post-Katrina drama about New Orleans, will film the second season this fall – with the second season set to debut next spring.
